BlueCity

We help the LGBTQ community make connections

Since its founding in 2011, BlueCity (Nasdaq: BLCT) has grown into a world-leading online LGBTQ platform that provides a comprehensive suite of services to foster connections and enhance the well-being of the global LGBTQ community.

We fulfill both the daily and lifelong needs of our members through a wide range of targeted and tailored services, including social networking, livestreaming and health-related service. With our commitment to providing high-quality user experience, ensuring privacy protection, and promoting community health and well-being, we have captured the hearts and minds of our members across the globe.

Founder, chairman and chief executive officer Mr. Baoli Ma realized the need to connect the LGBTQ community in China when he was a closeted policeman. He created the online forum, Danlan.org, under the pseudonym “Geng Le” dating back to 2000. Growing support for its push for public interest initiatives and HIV awareness and prevention catalyzed the forum’s evolution into what has now become one of the country’s first and most influential LGBTQ digital platforms. Nearly two decades later, it was the first LGBTQ-focused company to go public in the era of mobile internet in July 2020.

Mobile app Blued is the platform’s central hub, allowing users to conveniently and safely connect with each other, express themselves and access professional health-related services.

Available in 13 languages, Blued has connected more than 60 million registered users in about 170 countries for dating and more and nearly half of the monthly active users are outside of China. Blued is now the largest online LGBTQ social network in China, India, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam in terms of MAU in 2020.

The portfolio of brands under BlueCity also includes Finka, a leading gay social networking app geared toward China’s Gen Z.

The company is more than a dating app or live streaming platform. The company’s vision to become the most reliable and celebrated service ecosystem for the global LGBTQ community is most apparent in its work to set up healthcare services for the underserved LGBTQ community, a group that is expected to reach 591 million by 2023, according to Frost & Sullivan data.

For example, in cooperation with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), government, academic and corporate partners throughout China, Danlan Public Interest, BlueCity’s public interest arm, has amassed a network comprising nearly 7,000 testing locations across the country, which users can search for on Blued.

Outside China, the company has offered HIV-prevention services widely in markets where Blued operates, including Brazil, India, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, to facilitate testing, prevention and education in conjunction with local governments and health institutions.

During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, BlueCity has also partnered with NGOs and various institutions in markets across the globe to donate much-needed medical supplies and to conduct critical online COVID-19 training, leveraging our signature livestreaming feature.
In addition to non-profit initiatives, the company launched “He Health” in 2019, an online health platform dedicated to men’s health issues. It has promoted awareness of men’s health and HIV prevention to tens of millions of users in China, and its services have gradually expanded from sexually transmitted diseases to the field of men’s everyday wellbeing.

A platform for global PRIDE and equality

As a leading LGBTQ platform that champions diversity and equality, the listed enterprise is committed to using its innovative platform and extensive social network to inspire every user to live to the utmost with pride and courage.

In June 2020, Blued joined forces with LGBTQ icon Todrick Hall for the brand’s #StayProud virtual pride event, which brought together LGBTQ influencers and users from around the world.  All proceeds from the live streaming event went to the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Pride Pantry, which provides groceries to the city’s most at-risk LGBTQ residents.

During Pride 2021, Blued launched the #Liveyourpride campaign with a new brand video, along with tailored events across different countries and regions to demonstrate pride is not a special holiday or month, it’s a feeling to embrace every day.

From sponsoring the movie Made on the Rooftop, which closed the Seoul Pride Film Festival in 2000, to launching the anti-cyber bullying campaign in India in 2019, the company has been striving to build a more inclusive and equal society for all.
